Are you passionate about outdoor learning and its vital contribution to the development of young people? Dukes Barn is seeking new Trustees to help guide and support our vision to grow the centre and continue to deliver inspiring outdoor experiences.

About Us

Dukes Barn is a well-established outdoor activity centre dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible experiences that promote personal growth, resilience, confidence, and environmental awareness. We work with schools, community groups, and individuals from all backgrounds.

The Role of a Trustee

As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in the strategic leadership and governance of Dukes Barn. You will work collaboratively with fellow trustees and the Centre Manager to ensure the organisation remains sustainable, impactful, and true to its purposes.

We’re Looking For Individuals Who:

Are from diverse backgrounds and who share enthusiasm and an understanding of the benefits of learning from outdoor experiences in the countryside
Have lived experience of direct relevance to the groups who visit Dukes Barn for example, but not limited to, Special Educational Needs and Disability and relative socio-economic disadvantage
Can contribute to our plans to further modernise and develop existing accommodation through fundraising
Can think strategically and participate in decision-making
Are willing to dedicate time, expertise and lived experiences to Trustee meetings and occasional events

Previous Trustee experience is welcome but not essential—we value diverse perspectives and will provide support and induction.

Commitment & Location:

Time: Approximately 4 board meetings per year. Trustees may also wish to volunteer additional time to support ad hoc projects.

Location: Meetings are held at Dukes Barn, so living or working within the Peak District or surrounding counties is a definite advantage.
