Dukes Barn gives children, young people and vulnerable adults the chance to experience the outdoors in the heart of the Peak District. For many of the groups we work with, a stay with us is their first real taste of adventure, and the confidence they take home lasts long after they leave.
Demand for what we do keeps growing, and we're ready to grow with it. We're looking for volunteers to help us raise the funds to make that happen.
Our three-phase development
We've set out a clear, phased plan to expand the centre and secure its future for generations to come:
Phase 1: More beds, more visitors. New bedroom space so we can welcome more groups and say yes to more of the people who need us.
Phase 2: A dedicated teaching space. A purpose-built space for running courses and for training the next generation of outdoor instructors and leaders, so the work we do can carry on long into the future.
Phase 3: Building long-term security. Further bedrooms to increase our capacity and put the centre on a sustainable footing for years to come.
Each phase builds on the last, and every pound raised moves us a step closer. If you have experience of capital appeals, larger grant bids or approaching major donors, we'd especially love to hear from you.
Grant applications
Have you written bids for trusts, foundations, the National Lottery or local funders? Or are you a confident writer who's good at research and keen to learn? We'd love help identifying suitable funders, drafting applications and reporting on grants we receive.
General fundraising
There are plenty of other ways to help, such as organising events or challenges, building links with local businesses, encouraging regular giving, or sharing our story online and in the community.
What you'll get
The chance to help shape the future of the centre and see the results on the ground
Flexible involvement, from a one-off project to regular support, much of it remote
Support from our team and a warm welcome at the centre
Interested?
Whatever your experience, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch at info@dukesbarn.org or call 01629 733 039 for an informal chat.
