We wish to show the parents photographs of Dukes Barn, have you got a DVD to send us We are in the process of producing a powerpoint presentation which will be in the|download| section when its ready in the meantime please refer parents to our website
How many beds does the centre have?We have 40 beds for the students and 6 staff beds. More detail can be found in the accommodation section, in the downloads section room plans can be downloaded.
Does the centre have facilities for disabled groups?In the main building we have disabled access with power assisted doors and a lift. In the bedrooms we have a hoist, four disabled beds and two disabled bathrooms. We can also provide cot sides should they be required.
What is the next step after you have received our booking form?Once we have received your booking form a non-refundable deposit invoice for £500 will be sent to you. Upon receipt of your deposit payment your booking will be confirmed.
When do you need the balance payment for the course?Six weeks prior to the start of the course, we will contact you for final numbers, special dietary requirements, and expected time of arrival and departure. A Final invoice will be issued based on confirmed numbers.
What do we do if a child cannot attend due to sickness?Advise Dukes Barn Staff. The child must then send in a Doctor’s note in order to claim a full refund.
When do you want the dietary requirements?Two weeks before the course date.
Do you provide or cook Halal meat.No but the catering staff will be happy to provide a vegetarian alternative.
Can we order a Birthday cake for a child during their stay?Our catering staff will be more than happy to make one.
What time do we arrive and vacate Dukes Barn?Most groups arrive on Monday or Wednesday around 11.30am and leave the barn at 1.30pm on their last day, but these times are flexible.
Friday arrivals usually try to get here around 6pm and leave at 4pm on Sunday.
Do the group have to bring a packed lunch on the first day?The group needs to bring a pack lunch for the day of arrival. Packed lunches for the rest of your stay are booked in advance the day before.
When do you require the Parent Consent forms and bedroom list?On arrival at Dukes Barn.
Does the student require additional spending money?We suggest that the child brings no more than £10 for the Tuck Shop.
Who runs the Tuck Shop?The school staff during the evening.
Who locks up and secures the building at night?Visiting staff will be shown the locking up procedure.
Does Dukes Barn have over night staff supervision?No we do not provide over night cover, we will brief you in emergency procedures and you will have access to the office telephone and emergency contact numbers.
Where is your nearest hospital?Whitworth local cottage hospital is 20 minutes away from Dukes Barn in the direction ofMatlock.
Do you have a secure place for our medication?We have a secure location in the office for your medication.
Are our staff allowed to drive your minibuses?We will allow only experienced mini bus drivers who have a D1 on their licence. To full fill our insurance requirements proof of experience and sight of your driving licence will be required.
Is their access to a payphone on site?Yes there is a payphone on site.
Mobile phone reception is patchy but reception is available for most networks from the car park area.
Are their any shops in Beeley village?Yes. We have a small corner shop.
Do you hold an AALA licence?Yes Registration no:L8504/R0075 further details can be found under the |activities|section of this website.
Do you have a Combined Liability Insurance?Yes we have a Combined Liability insurance through Jardine Lloyd Thompson Leisure a copy can be found in the |downloads| section.
Are all your staff CRB checked?All staff have been Enhanced CRB checked.
Are all your activity staff qualified?All staff leading activities will hold the relevant National Governing Body qualification or have been assessed as competent by an appropriately experienced and qualified person as required by the Licensing Service.
Are all your house staff qualified?All our staff are trained both in Hygiene and First Aid.
